Haylea's 3rd Birthday - 20 Questions

On January 18th, our girl turned 3 years old. It just doesn't even seem real. Here she is in her shirt (and tutu) she got for her birthday.
I found the idea for this on Pinterest, but it is something I would like to do for the kids each year on their birthday. You ask them the same 20 questions each year, to see how much their answers change from year to year.
1. What is your favorite color? Purple
2. What is your favorite toy? My Ariel doll
3. What is your favorite fruit? Oranges
4. What is your favorite TV show? Scary Movies (we have never let her watch one?)
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Chicken Nuggets
6. What is your favorite outfit? Snow White shirt
7. What is your favorite game? Tag
8. What is your favorite snack? Oranges (girl likes her some oranges!)
9. What is your favorite animal? Kitty Cat
10. What is your favorite song? ABC's
11. What is your favorite book? Dora
12. Who is your best friend? Jackson (awww!)
13. What is your favorite special treat? suckers
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? RUN!
15. What is your favorite drink? Chocolate Milk
16. What is your favorite holiday? My birthday (haha!)
17. What do you like to take to bed with you? "Nino" (her pink build-a-dino)
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Pop Tart
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Birthday Cake
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? A Baby

Where to start...?

I have absolutely been horrible about posting on this blog. Part of it has been because we couldn't while the kids were in foster care, and I never really got into the habit of it. Plus, I forget about it. I will try to do better...promise! Here is a treat...Jackson as a Shark, and Haylea as a Peacock for Halloween 2011!

Jackson's Adoption

On October 1st, 2010 at 1pm, Jackson Owen became a permanent member of our family. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. I am really trying to add other pictures to this, but it is giving me fits and I don't have the patience right now. I will try again soon!

Jackson's Adoption Video

I know I have really neglected to update this blog, but we are getting close to the point where I can update it with whatever we want. We should be adopting our little girl sometime this summer, so I really hope that once that is done, I can update more freely.

But until then... Here is the adoption montage video that we made for Jackson. Enjoy!!

My how things change...

It has been quite some time since I've even been on this blog, and that is because I couldn't add anything to it for confidentiality reasons for our kids. Well, I guess I could have, but it wouldn't have been anything worth reading.

In a nutshell, our lives have been BUSY since I last wrote. The little boy that came to us in the last post was with us for about 6 weeks before he went to another foster home. He came on January 16, and on January 21st we also got a three day old baby. She is now 19 months old and is still with us.

On June 5th of last year, a 2 year old little boy came to stay with us. He is now 3, and - brace yourself - we will be ADOPTING him on October 1st, 2010 at 1pm! I can't wait to post pictures and post updates about things that have happened over the last year and a half, and things that are yet to happen!

Stay tuned! This blog should get a little more interesting soon. :)

The Ups and Downs...And We Haven't Even Gotten Started Yet

So I forgot to mention last week...

We got a call for respite for twins. We said yes, another family got chosen.

Two days later, we get notified of an 11 month old boy. We said yes, another family got chosen.

The next day, we get a call about a 3 month old infant with an absolutely heartbreaking story, but that situation wasn't something we were comfortable with, so we had to turn it down.

That same day, we get a call for a 7 month old boy and his 4 year old brother. We said yes, and scrambled to straighten up the house, and an hour later we got a call saying that they had been placed with another family.

Man...we were beat. That's why when we heard about the little boy coming tomorrow, we were a bit skeptical... But, look where we are now! Updates soon!!!
