Our World is About to Change!

Well, tomorrow (January 16) we will have a 3 year old little boy living with us. At this point, I'm not sure what all I can share so I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I will talk with his worker tomorrow about this blog to see if it's something I can post pictures on. I am assuming if I am allowed to to that, that we'll have to make this a "private" or "locked" blog, so it'll have a password on it. We'll deal with that tomorrow though.

We are nervous, excited, scared, and crazy all at the same time. Our days of us doing what we want are coming to an end VERY quickly. I took today off so I could spend the morning with Bob... It was nice.

Keep us in your prayers, and we'll update when we can.

Birthday!!!

Well, since I have nothing else to post about, I thought I'd share my little birthday trip to Cheesecake Factory on The Plaza in KC. Bob drove myself, Amanda and Jaime there, and my cousin Travis met us there also.
My Dutch Apple Birthday Cheesecake
The Crusted Romano Chicken that Amanda and I both got
Miss Jaime and Miss Amanda
The fountain outside the restaurant
Me and Bobby
Me and Travis
The whole group
The patio of the restaurant
A shot of the plaza.
We sure had a lot of fun. It was nice and warm for the 8th of December, and we got back to the car JUST as it started raining. Thanks, guys, for making my birthday special!

It's official!

As of today, Bob and I are licensed foster parents in the State of Kansas! All we need now is a baby!

We could get a baby at literally any minute, so keep checking back for updates! We sure are excited. Scared, but excited!

Woo-hoo!!!

Waiting...

No, I haven't neglected to update this...we're still waiting to hear back from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment so that we can get our license. I'll let you all know when that happens. I HATE WAITING!!! :)

How Far We've Come

Well, we have officially had our last class in the Foster/Adoptive Parent Training! I have been sick for about a week, so I probably haven’t been as excited about it as I would have been otherwise.

We’ve gotten our animals vaccinated. We’ve both had our yearly physicals (yuck). We’ve gone through 7 weeks of training and discussed things that you never would’ve thought pertained to foster care. We’ve opened our home to inspections and critiques, with many more to come. We’ve installed more smoke detectors, installed baby-proofing latches, and gotten first aid kits for our cars. We’ve asked for references, and those who agreed have very promptly returned their paperwork, and for that, we are truly grateful.

ALL we have left to do is a floor plan of our house, which I have done on the computer. I just need to get measurements added to it. Wednesday, October 8th, we have a final ‘walk through’ before our application is submitted to the State. Once our application is submitted, we could possibly have a temporary license within a couple of weeks. We can have a child placed in our home on a temporary license. From what I understand, the only thing we need to make it a ‘regular’ license is a walk-through inspection of our home by the Kansas Department of Health & Environment.

I just wanted to do a quick update to let everyone know where we were at, and to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.

~Julie~

P.S. I’m trying to get Bob to do an entry on here too, but he’s being rather reluctant. :P
